Today arrived Emma’s new favorite toy: A customized baby newspaper by Mini Me Papers. Inspired by her own mini me, Alison James came up with the idea for the baby newspaper when she and her husband were reading the daily newspaper. Her daughter was intrigued by the crinkly sound and kept trying to reach for their newspaper. Genius stroke and Ali decided to create a baby-proof newspaper: Without the dirty ink but with the crunchy sound babies love, a few taggies for baby to pull on and sized for tiny baby hands.
My favorite part is that you can customize it and send Ali your own newspapers, magazines, sheet music, posters, etc. to work into Mini Me Papers. My husband and I were featured in San Francisco’s 7×7 magazine (when we were young and hip and danced at cool parties all night) so I asked Ali to include the page with our photo. As an extra touch she used an ‘E’ for ‘Emma’ as a link to hold the pages together and stitched her name (letters cut by hand!) on the cover.

The most important requirement a toy has to meet is that my child actually plays with it. Mini Me Papers was put to the test on a recent 8-hour road trip – and passed.
