Fall is just around the corner here in Indiana and that means that it’s time to break out the cozy sweaters, thermal tees, and fuzzy fleece vests. While babywearing in the warmer summer months is simple, it gets a bit trickier once the thermostat drops.
I have found the mother of all inventions for active babywearers in the cooler months. The Peekaru Original ($80) is a fleece cover that fits over any soft baby carrier to keep both the adult and baby warm. I have tried out my Peekaru with my wraps, mei tai, slings and pouches, and they have all worked great with the the Peekaru.
Don’t be mistaken, the Peekaru is not just to be worn with the tiniest of babies. Since the material is soft and stretchy, it easily fits over you and baby, no mater if your carrying a newborn or toddler.
I plan on wearing the cover like a vest in the upcoming Fall weeks, then throwing a coat over it for an extra layer of warmth in the Winter.
The fleece cover is unique, as it’s made from 85% recycled material, Oeko-tex standard 100 certified. Each Peekaru Original saves approximately 25 plastic bottles from reaching the landfill. I’m feeling good about keeping my baby close to me as well as helping out Mother Earth.
Buy it! The Peekaru Original ($80) comes in 5 different sizes, and 5 different colors. You can purchase your very own at Togetherbe.com
Win it! Togetherbe wants to generously give on lucky Simple reader a Peekaru Original in the size and color of their choice. To be entered, make sure you hop over to the site, check it out, and come back here to tell us where you would use the Peekaru this Fall.
Winner will be chosen at random September 20th. Winner will be submitted to Prizy Fetch.

I’ve had my eye on this, but it’s just so expensive! I know I’d use it all the time–on walks with the baby, at the park, or just running errands when the weather cools down.

What a great invention. You are right, I find it impossible to bundle up the baby and carry him in the baby bjorn. I have tried everything from tucking blankets around the outside to wearing an giant cape to cover us both. This would be wonderful to have on a crisp Fall day while out and about.
September 10, 2008 at 3:48 pm
I would use it everywhere! I love the idea. I have a fleece cover I got for my baby bjorn that works well, but this is MUCH cosier and we can bundle together. And it will not fall off!
September 10, 2008 at 4:08 pm

September 10, 2008 at 7:59 pm

We live in town so I’m always walking everywhere with my son in the Baby Bjorn. This would be much easier than the blanket I used to tuck into the armholes when I took him out as a newborn in early spring. My favorite is the green in an XL so both my husband and I could use it.

September 14, 2008 at 1:58 am
I would love to use it this fall and winter – With my son I wore my husband’s old winter coat on walks around the neighborhood, but since it was oversized, it could get a bit drafty. I had to do some elaborate blanket tucking into the wrap to make it work. This would be the perfect thing to layer with in the winter while wearing the next one (due any day now…).
September 14, 2008 at 6:19 pm
I would use it at football games.
September 14, 2008 at 6:44 pm

I would use it everyday when I have to pick up kids from school. We have to park, get out and walk up to the doors, no sittin in cars where its warm. I live in Michigan, the big mitten shaped state…its not shaped like that for nothing!!!

I’d never thought about keeping warm while using a baby wrap – both for my little gal and me. This is awesome! The blue is such a pretty color too.

Fall is such a big outdoor time for our family. We love to go on hay rides and to the cider mill. The Peekaru would be so convenient to use during those outings. Thanks!

I would use a Peekaru at the local football games. It gets pretty chilly on those bleachers.

Well my daughter is pregnant & this would be great for her since she's always carrying around her friends babies. We live in Michigan and it gets really cold and nasty so this would help keep her little one warm when their out.
